After 16 years of excellent work, the Controller of this family-owned franchise operation is looking to retire, so we need to fill some pretty big shoes. This is a position for the experienced automotive Controller looking for a long term home.
How you will be an integral part of our team:
- Oversee tasks to ensure that financial functions are reconciled monthly, including (but not limited to): cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, manufacturer statements, payroll administration, and vehicle deal commissioning, inter-company accounts
- Meet all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines as required, including monthly reconciliations, quarterly reporting, etc.
- Work closely with multiple manufacturers to ensure all their financial and accounting needs are met and relevant analyses are performed
- Lead, mentor, and coach an accounting team, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing of work, ensuring quality standards are met
- Assist with the hiring, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action plans to associates when necessary
- Assist with the training process and ongoing development of the assigned team to ensure understanding and compliance with the accounting DMS, accounting policies, controls, reporting timelines, and procedures
- Provide leadership and support to ensure the team is successful in achieving goals and objectives
- Promote professional development within a team environment
- Review and monitor dealership compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls, to ensure consistency among all dealerships in the Company
- Preparing the financial statements for review
- Interprets the financial statement and daily operating reports and informs management of developing trends
- Reinforces company policies and adheres to all company standards
- Maintains and inspects for compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place
- Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable accounts are accurately represented to third parties.
Requirements:
- Experience with multiple-franchises
- 5+ years of experience in a dealership business office
- Previous experience as an automotive accountant or Controller
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with dealership management systems Reynolds & DealerTrack
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to work well with Executives, Managers as well as mentor/lead other team members
- Interpersonal skills to communicate with external entities and company personnel
- Able to work under pressure and prioritize
