What does the life of an automotive controller look like? It’s different every day! Ask anyone who has worked in the accounting office of a dealership, and they will tell you there is no monotony in the accounting office. Some days you spend your time knee-deep in daily accounting work, while others are chasing down issues created by someone changing a process that had a ripple effect through the store. On another day, you will be asked to forecast and budget, or take on a special project. You will work hard and stay busy but will have a deep sense of satisfaction of a job well done. You will learn how complex automotive accounting is (if you haven’t done it before) and love it for the complexities.

ONLY THOSE WITH PRIOR AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE OR COST ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Job Responsibilities to Include:

  • Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions.
  • Supervise and train accounting staff as needed.
  • Participate in day to day accounting work.
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for owners.
  • Develop processes and procedures to improve efficiency across stores.
  • Submit timely and accurate financial statements
  • Meet with owners regularly to address ways to improve business and cover goals as well as performance
  • Create and maintain budgets and reporting for accountability to budgets for each department and store.
  • Work with dealership owners to develop more comprehensive data and reporting functions for all businesses.
  • Ensure all legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions is kept.
  • Help develop and encourage teamwork across all departments and stores.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or extensive prior experience in automotive accounting or cost accounting role;
  • Must have demonstrated leadership ability in prior roles
  • Must have interpersonal skills, and possess excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills
  • Highly organized.
